Xioami has again expanded its product portfolio and launched an rugged camera, the YiCamera which will compete against GoPro. Last year we have seen Xiaomi has added quite a few products in its category like Ants security launched for $25, Mi Air Purifier launched for $146, and Light Bulb launched for $37. Like its other products, this time as well Xiaomi has nicely priced YiCamera and it will be available for RMB 399 or Rs 4,000 or $64.
If we talk about its then Xioami has developed in partnership with Xiaoyi, Xiaomi YiCamera features an 16-megapixel Sony Exmor R CMOS sensor with f/2.8 aperture and it is capable of taking 1080p videos at 60 FPS in H.264 video codec, YiCamera can go as far as 40 meters underwater, it offers an ultra wide 155-degree panoramic view and you will be able to record slow motion recording and time lapse effects.
It comes with 64GB of memory options, and much like GoPro cameras, the YiCamera also comes features built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth support, and there is an app for Android which lets you edit and share the video.
There is one downside of YiCamera if compare with GoPro, where GoPro camera comes with some basic basic accessories which will is missing in YiCamera but at this price point its still a fair deal.
This camera is available in China under Xiaomi’s famous flash sale, there is no word when and at what price this device will land in India or in other parts of the globe.
