Asus has started rolling out Android Marshmallow based update for its camera-centric smartphone, the Asus ZenFone Zoom, but as update is in roll out phase so it might take couple of days or up to a week to reach you, and in case you can’t wait for update to reach you, you can download update and install it manually on your device by following the steps mention below.
Simple Method :-
The simple method to update your device is to download the update file from HERE, the size of this update is 1.5 GB, once you have update file, copy and paste it into the root directory of your phone’s internal storage, and within few seconds you will get update available notification on your device, if you don’t get, then just reboot your device and you will get notification.
Just tap on install update and then your device will get updated. Make sure you have at least 40% battery left on your device.
Advanced Method :-
If above method doesn’t work for you then here is an advance method which you can use, but before you use this method, make sure you have Android ADB and Fastboot drivers are install on your computer.
Next thing, make sure USB Debugging is enabled on your device, for this first navigate to Setting->About and then tap 7 times on Build Number to enable Developer options, next go to Setting->Developers options and enable USB Debugging.
Now turn off the device and then boot into recovery mode by pressing Power+Volume down, next select Apply Update from ADB and then connect the device to the computer.
Now go to folder where you have downloaded update file and press shift and right click on empty area and select Open Command Prompt Here, and run following command :-
You should see your device name, now run
adb sideload Update-File-Name.zip
Now just wait till the update is completed and then the phone will be rebooted, first boot might take some time so don’t panic, once your device is rebooted, you have an updated device.
After updating device, we had noticed some improvements in performance and camera department as well.
