Couple of weeks back Airtel announced free WiFi calling feature or VoWiFi  (Voice Over WiFi) on its network for customers in major cities in India, now company has announced that this feature will be available for all Airtel users across in India, means if you have a Airtel connection and your phone supports VoWiFi then you can get benefit of it. This announcement came just couple of days after its major rival Reliance Jio has announced free free voice and video calls over any WiFi across India for its users, and now same can be enjoyed over Airtel as well.

Airtel WiFi Calling

Basically what this feature do is it route your phone call through your home or office WiFi and sends voice in the form of packets, this is very similar what happens on VoLTE, with this you can make calls from those places where network is low but you have WiFi available.

There is no extra charge for making calls via Airtel Wi-Fi Calling and customers can get started on Airtel Wi-Fi calling on their smartphone without the need for any additional calling App/ SIM.

Airtel has said this WiFi calling feature will work over 100 devices of different brands for its customers.

To enable WiFi calling, all you have to do is make sure you are running latest firmware for your device and and then navigate to Setting and look for WiFi Calling under Mobile Networks or in Network section.

Randeep Sekhon, CTO – Bharti Airtel said: “We are delighted with the extremely positive customer response for Airtel Wi-Fi Calling. The technology has truly transformed the indoor network quality for Airtel mobile customers, particularly in high population density areas in urban markets. Airtel is also the first to make the service LIVE across India and our customers can use the feature on any Wi-Fi.”
