Earlier there were news that Samsung might launch its own OS, Tizen powered device in India in the month of October, somewhere around Diwali, but due to some reason company missed this deadline and now as per the latest news from Korean Economic Daily, Samsung will launch Z1 here in India on January 18 which will run on Linux-based Tizen operating system and will be priced around $90 which is roughly Rs. 6000/-

Samsung Tizen OS

As of now we know that it will feature a 4-inch WVGA display screen, powered by a dual-core processor clocked at 1.2GHz along with 512MB RAM, will have a 3.2-megapixel camera and for connectivity will have 3G, Bluetooth, GPS, Micro USB and Wi-Fi, and as told earlier it will run on Tizen 2.3 operating system. To attract users company is also expected to offer local contents like music, videos with its Club Samsung 2.0.

Earlier company planned to launch this device in the month of October but after that it was expected to be launch on 10 December but again company missed its deadline and new date has come up again. Earlier Samsung has planned to launch its Tizen powered Samsung Z smartphone but due to lack of support from its partners company failed to do this and selected Z1 has the device which company could launch in India and use India as a test market.

At this price tag this smartphone will compete with Android One devices. In recent days we had seen that Samsung has decided to move to its own OS and leave dependency upon Google’s Android OS.

It will be interesting to see how company will market and position its new OS in the current market in which most of the share is occupied by Android powered device. What you think about this move from company, share your views in comment sections.
