As expected today Jolla has launched its Sailfish OS powered smartphone in India in partnership with Snapdeal, this smartphone is launched at Rs. 16,499. This smartphone was announced last year.

Jolla has been started by an ex Nokia employee and the OS on which it runs, Sailfish OS has been developed by some more ex-Nokia employees who had worked on MeeGo OS.

If we talk about specs then Jolla has 4.5 inch qHD touch screen with screen resolution of 540×960 pixels, under the hood its powered  1.4GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor paired with 1GB of RAM. It comes with 16Gb of internal storage which can be expandable via microSD card.

At back it has an 8-megapixel autofocus rear camera along with LED flash and has a 2-megapixel front-facing camera, for connectivity it has LTE support, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS and houses a 2100 mAh battery.

You can download and install Android apps on this via Yandex and Aptoide Stores but at this time on 85000 Apps are supported.

Jolla smartphone’s runs on Sailfish OS which is Open Source and the USP of this OS is that it has no button and it completely relies on your gesture control which supports swipes and can be customized. Company also says this OS grows with you and adopts your style and grows with you. Company also said that Sailfish OS multi-tasting allows users to see all running apps on one screen, a feature which is missing on other OS.
