Today Oppo has announced world’s slimmest smartphone, the Oppo R5 which is just 4.85mm thick, till now the title of world’s most thinnest smartphone was with Gionee S5.1 which recently entered its name in Guinness World Book of Records. Surely its a great achievement for the company and it will also look stunning in users hands but it do come at a big cost.

Oppo-R5-Slim

Do you know at what cost Oppo was able to attain this? Actually Oppo has removed 3.5mm audio jack from Oppo R5 as this port is thicker than the phone. 3.5mm audio jack is industries standard and this port can be found in almost all smartphone’s as well as feature phones. Oppo instead of a 3.5mm headset, giving a headphone which plug into USB port, means you have to connect your headset to the same port in which you plug your charging cable.

If you have some third party headphone’s like i have a beat headphone, then it won’t work with it unless you buy a Micro USB to 3.5mm connector. This move by Oppo will limit your choice in terms of headphone. As of now you won’t find your favorite headphone’s with Micro USB port and this situation isn’t going to change anytime soon unless and until big brand start using Micro USB for headphone’s instead of 3.5mm.

As of now Oppo hasn’t announced any Micro USB to 3.5mm connector which they should include in retail box. What you think, what is more important, Device thickness or users comfort? Do share your views with us in comments section.
