One of the most awaited and probably the last big smartphone of the year has been announced by Google, the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL which are the successor of last years most popular devices, the Pixel, and Pixel XL. Last year when Google has announced the first series of smartphone under Pixel lineup, it took the internet by storm and they were one of the most successful smartphones of last year, and all were expecting same from Google this year as well.
After getting lots of leaks and rumors, finally, Google has taken the wrap off from Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL and both of these devices come with improved design and upgraded specs under the hood.
Design Of Google Pixel 2 And Pixel 2 XL –
From last year, competition has completely changed, we have seen dual camera smartphone, edge-to-edge display devices, all new hardwares and improved design has been seen on the smartphone like Samsung Galaxy Note 8, LG V30, iPhone X and so on.
With so much of competition, Google Pixel smartphones were able to make there own place. On Pixel 2, you have thick bezels at top and bottom, where you will find stereo speakers for enhanced multimedia experience.
Just like last year, at back you have a two-tone design, now the “visor” has been shrunken and now the fingerprint sensor is placed below it which earlier was placed on the glass, this will allow users to access it more easily.
Now camera lens is bigger and occupies more space. Power/Sleep button along volume rockers are on the right side, and USB Type-C port is at the bottom, no 3.5 mm audio jack on these devices.
When it comes to Pixel 2 XL comes with6-inch display which is a jump from last years device but this time you have tiny bezels at the front. Again you have dual stereo speakers at the front and the display over here is 18:9 aspect ratio.
Similar to Pixel 2, the back has got same design language but the position of camera module and LED flash has been changed
Specs Of Google Pixel 2 And Pixel 2 XL –
When it comes to the specs, Google Pixel flaunts a 5-inch FHD OLED display which is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5, under the hood, it is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 octa-core SoC along with 4GB of RAM and comes in 64 or 128GB variant.
With Pixel 2 smartphone, you will get unlimited cloud storage for your original resolution photos and videos which is a nice benefit as Pixel 2 won’t support expandable storage.
When it comes to the photographic front, it features a 12.2 MP rear f/1.8 aperture lens and optical image stabilization, it combines OIS and EIS to make stabilize videos, last year we have only seen EIS on Pixel. Google has also shared that Pixel 2 camera has got highest DxOMark score of 98, leaving the Galaxy Note 8 and iPhone 8 Plus behind which has got 94 each.
Pixel 2 camera uses dual-pixel technology which allows camera to focus faster and same technology can be used to capture more information. Google has said with this dual-pixel technology and machine learning, Google has added portrait mode or bokeh mode to Pixel 2 camera without the need for the secondary camera.
At the front, you have an 8MP camera for video calling and selfies, and just like the rear camera, you have machine learning portrait mode here too.
For connectivity, it supports 4G LTE, USB OTG, NFC, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS too and it houses 2700 battery which lasts a day for you. When it comes to software front, it runs on Android v8 Oreo.
Pixel 2 XL Specs –
Google Pixel 2 XL features almost same specs as of Pixel 2, however, it flaunts a 6-inch P-OLED QHD+ display with a resolution of 1,440 x 2,880 pixels and has a pixel density of 538ppi. It houses a larger 3520 mAh battery.
Both Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL comes with an always-on display to show you notifications, just like HTC U11, here you have “Active Edge” support, means you can squeeze the phone to launch the Google Assistant, launch camera and some more stuff. Both phones now also have IP67 dust and water resistance as well.
Price and availability of Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL-
Pixel 2 will be available in 3 colors: white, black and blue and priced at $649 for the 64GB storage variant and $749 for 128GB while the Pixel 2 XL, on the other hand, will come in 2 colors only, black and the black & white and is priced at $849 for the 64GB storage variant and $949 for the 128GB variant.
