If you are using Windows 8 or Windows 8.1 then you must have noticed that whenever you type your Windows login password or type password on Internet Explorer then by default Windows will show a human eye like button at the corner of password field and when you click on it your password will be revealed.

Password_Reveal_Windows_8

This feature is called “Password Reveal Button” or “Show Password Button“it a nice feature as it allows you to see what password you had entered but at the same time it a threat too, suppose you had saved a password of your email account on Internet Explorer and if someone else uses your system then he might get a sneak peak at your password.

To disable this feature all you need to do is, type regedit at your run command and navigate to

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESoftwarePoliciesMicrosoftWindowsCredUI

Password_Reveal_Windows_8_Registry

Now in right side pane create DWORD DisablePasswordReveal and set its value to 1, now it will disable your password reveal button everywhere on Windows 8 or Windows 8.1 even including Internet Explorer.
