Today we had Asus Transformer Book T100 with us, this convertible tablet landed a week ago in TechnoArea Lab and after playing few days with it we are impressed with the product, it comes with Solid Intel Bay Trail processor. Asus Transformer Book T100 can be useful for those has basic computing needs and want a flexible convertible notebook at decent price tag.

Build & Design

Asus has build this notebook very well, there is circular radial pattern on the back, with Asus branding on it. However these pattern doesn’t provide any texture due to smooth plastic coating over, we had seen matte plastic finish on radial pattern which gives nice grip to tablet. Asus Transformer Book T100 has curved corners which helps you to make good grip on it. There is no camera at back of the tablet. Tablet has Audio connector, microSD card slot, Micro USB for charging and a Micro HDMI port of right side, there is a power button at top (in landscape mode) and volume rocker on left while the bottom has connector for connecting it with keyboard dock. 2-megapixel camera above the 10.1-inch display.

If we talk about keyboard dock, At first you will feel some plastic material but if you doesn’t liked touch cover on Microsoft Surface tablet then you will be pleased with Asus, however its not that much great, there are some flaws on it and starter might face some problems with it. Its touch pad needs lot of improvements, in our test we found its not so user friendly. Keyboard dock has an USB 3.0 slot. You can detach keyboard and screen by pressing a button just above keyboard. When you close keyboard and tablet, it will put tablet in standby mode and automatically turns on when it is opened, just like any other notebook.

Hardware

Asus Transformer T100 flaunts a 10.1-inch IPS screen with screen resolution of 1366×768 pixels, Pixel density is quite with 155 PPI. However, Microsoft Metro UI clear and sharp with good contrast this screen size. Tablet provides 178-degree viewing angle touch response of this tablet cum laptop is quite nice and we were quite impressed with it.

Under the hood, its powered by 1.33GHz quad-core Intel Atom BayTrail processor along with 2 GB RAM and supported by Windows 8.1. In our test we dint faced any lag or glitch which we were expecting as Intel Atom processor were made for mobile .

Software

This tablet runs on standard Windows 8.1 OS out of the box. If you had ever used Windows platform then you will be familiar with it. Windows 8.1 is a good OS for touch tablets and we felt same with Asus Transformer Book T100. This tablet comes in two variant, 32 GB and 64 GB, we got 32 GB and our problem was limited storage, in our review unit out of 32 GB we only get 12 GB.

Performance

During our test we didn’t find any issue on this tablet, we surfed web, played games, listen music and watch movies too, all went well without any lag or glitch. We played full HD videos and it handled it very smoothly. We were quite impressed with its battery life which can last a day on decent usage.

Who is it for?

Asus is targeting as entry level tablet which comes with traditional Windows apps access in tablet form too, If you are a medium user and most use laptop for internet usage and don’t like Android or iPad or wanna try Windows as Windows gives you same look and feel which gets on your home or office then you could try this.

Overall we can say this hybrid tablet is a good work from Taiwanese company, we were impressed how a company can make such a decent looking tablet with plastic and using a thin rubber coating which helps to make good grip of it.
