Yesterday night Apple has introduced its next generation iPad, the iPad Air 2 to which Apple is calling world’s thinnest tablet as it has just 6.1 mm body thickness which makes it 18 percent thinnest than its predecessor and its lighter as well if we compare it with its elder sibling.

But being thinnest and lighter doesn’t mean it lacks inside, Apple has packed it with all new A8X processor and M8 motion co-processor which is quite enough to handle all heavy task. Apple has said that this chipset is specially designed for iPad family.

At back it features a 8MP iSight camera which support full HD recording, burst mode, panorama shots (43 MP), HDR, time lapse videos and 120fps slow motion videos. Apple has upgraded front camera as well with new sensor and HDR mode.

Apple has included TouchID sensor and App Pay support in iPad Air 3 but it dont have any NFC which means you cant use it in bricks and mortar shops.

For connectivity Apple has included 802.11ac MiMO WiFi which support up to 866 Mbps and over 20 LTE bands which provide speed up to 150 Mpbs. Battery remains the same and it provides 10 hours of backup.

iPad Air 2 will be available in Silver, Space Grey and Gold colors variant and will cost :-

  • 16GB – $499 WiFi
  • 64GB – $599 WiFi
  • $699 – 128 GB WiFi
  • 16GB- $629 WiFi+LTE
  • $729 – 64GB WiFi+LTE
  • $829 -128GB WiFi+LTE

iPad Air 3 pre-orders will start on October 17, and will be available from 24th October.
