Sony was the first manufacturer who showed its road map for the release of ICS aka Android 4.0 update for its phone, recently they had launched Xperia S and promised to deliver update by Q2 of 2012.

Now according to Sony they will start releasing ICS update for their Xepria tag phones from mid of April, The update will be rolled out in 2 phases, in first phase Xperia arc S, Xperia neo V and Xperia ray will get ICs update.

Then on 2nd phase Xperia arc, Xperia PLAY, Xperia neo, Xperia mini, Xperia mini pro, Xperia pro, Xperia active and Sony Ericsson Live with Walkman will receive update and it may come by the end of May/early June.

Sony has decided that you won’t receive any update requests or notifications, so that  you can take a conscious and informed decision to upgrade your Xperia phone to latest version of Android.

Another thing is that there will be no OTA (Over The Air Update), you will be able to download update via PC Companion and Bridge for Mac
