Finally Skype is going to introduce the official app for iPad and as expected it will hit App Store on Tuesday, so if you own an iPad then take a close look on App Store on Tuesday.

CNET was able to get their hands on this app before its launch, You wont be able to make video calls from iPad 1 but you can receive video calls on it, and on iPad 2 you will be able to do both.

Chat functionality of Skype is not great, you will see your contacts on the left side and text messages on the right side, Chat works over both 3G and WiFi.

The contact page on Skype is redesign for iPad which is very similar to iPod/iTunes Album view

Now if Skype works over both 3G and WiFi then this is the plus point for it as compare with Facetime which works over only WiFi, but as news is coming it is expected that Facetime will work on 3G in iOS 5.

If it happen then the only plus point with Skype is that you can make calls to non Apple product users as from Facetime you can make calls on iDevices.
