Many times my friends asked me for a good Android phone at the range of Rs. 15k. It is very true that many peoples has budget of Rs. 15K as its mid one of high end phone and entry level phone.

Micromax canvas HD A116 is one of the few phones which is best phone under your Rs, 15K budget. When I got review unit I think its like yet another Android phone from Micromax but I was taken back as when it bring it out of box its looks pretty good and nice in hand.

It has curved back and edges which makes it looks nice and you can hold it in your hands very well but it gives a plasticky feel due to its plastic build. At front it has 5 inch IPS screen which has 720p HD resolution. When I launch phone and start using it it feels quite fast thanks to Mediatek MT6589 quad-core processor clocked at 1.2 GHz and 1 GB of RAM

To test it we launched 6-7 heavy apps at the same time and there was no lags while running apps and switching between them. Its screen is quite bright but not so responsive (could be fault in my review unit).

At back it has 8 MP camera with LED flash which can shot full HD 1080p video, at front you will get a 2 MP camera. Camera quality is good enough. See some sample results below :-

Sound quality of this phone is above average. Micromax has tweaked Android version to make it more user friendly and better. They do had added some of their native apps like M!Live, M!Store, and M!Zone+.

It has a powerful battery of 2000 mAh which can last a day easily. We tried watching full movie, played games, listen music and did other stuff and with all this it last more than 17 hrs.

We did performed a benchmark test on it and it succeeded to beat some costly phones, you can see its result below :-

Pros :-

  • Powerful processor,
  • Good battery life
  • Nicely designed,
  • Most important, well priced.

Cons ;-

  • Not so responsive touch screen (could be my review unit fault as I hadn’t heard this from anyone else)
  • Plasticky feel
  • Home button is not well placed at side, it must be at top.

TechnoArea Rating :- 4/5
